Over the past 15 years, while building several successful online businesses of his own, Mark Fitzgerald has had the opportunity to share his vast expertise with dozens, if not hundreds, of businesses around the world. His skills in design & usability, multi-channel market integration, brand loyalty and search optimization have earned him accolades in the press and the trust of many happy clients.
Prior to founding eCommAdvisor, Mark was a founder and managing director of both Grapevinehill.com and Gordon Custom Products – enjoying great successes – providing strategic vision, defining brand tactics, integrating multi-marketplace data feeds and establishing optimal operations workflows to support e-fulfillment.
Building a $20+ million online shoe business from scratch, on a shoe-string budget (pun intended) was no small feat. Mark tirelessly forged relationships with vendors, sought out continued operational improvements and leveraged common technology to achieve uncommon results. His “Purposed Phases” approach to strategic implementations won the attention of industry analysts, newspapers and magazines.
Mark aggressively grew an online subscriber base and managed an email marketing program that consistently out-performed competitors and industry averages for click-thru and conversion rates. In addition, his ability to effectively create and integrate data feeds between a variety of marketplace platforms (such as eBay and Amazon) was instrumental in making Grapevinehill a finalist in the 2006 Multi-Channel Merchant Awards. His customer-centric approach to design and usability also contributed greatly to winning eBay’s “Best In Store” Award in 2006.
A firm believer in identifying and implementing the best solutions (always within budget) for his business, Mark made what he refers to as a “landmark” decision in the selection of Channel Advisor as a strategic business vendor / partner for Grapevinehill. By aggressively implementing all modules offered by Channel Advisor’s Merchant platform – Mark was able to quickly shift focus away from technical hurdles and onto growing Grapvinehill into the largest footwear retailer on eBay and Amazon in the world. His extensive knowledge and expertise on Channel Advisor’s array of products and services makes him arguably the most valuable Channel Advisor implementation and strategy consultant in the world today. Besides establishing an impressive record of building his own websites, he is widely regarded as the foremost expert on multichannel implementations – including: eBay, eBay Stores, eBay Express, Amazon Marketplace, Overstock Shopping, Overstock Auctions, buySafe, Buy.com, Google Shopping and a variety of comparison shopping engines.
During his career, he has been called on as an “expert source” by a host of Wall St. analysts seeking guidance on market trends and feedback on marketplace movement of 3rd party seller platforms such as eBay and Amazon. Mark has been featured in newspapers and magazines including Entrepreneur, Inc., Fortune and Business Week as well as books “The eBay Millionaire” (Joyner) and “eBay Strategies” (Wingo). Mark has enjoyed speaking engagements around the country including Catalyst, eBay Live, and Internet Retailer – covering such topics as “Brand Loyalty”, “Staffing for Success”, “The Multi-Marketplace Strategy”, and much more.
Mark holds a BA in Business Administration and Economics from Gordon College in Wenham, MA. He has advanced certifications in Microsoft Office suite of products as well as Data & Internet Services certification from Cable & Wireless Corp. Mark is the former Board Chairman of Beacon Christian Academy and currently serves as an adviser for several former and current clients.
